Borders & Corridors
Transit cargo moving through Tanzania to the landlocked markets — under customs control, on our own security bond, with the border handover managed as part of the same movement.
Goods passing through Tanzania to another country are not imported into Tanzania. They move under customs control from the port to the border of exit, and they must be accounted for at every stage — because until the bond is acquitted, somebody is financially liable for the duty that would have been payable had the cargo been diverted into the local market.
That liability is the reason transit is a bonded activity. Bridgelight holds an approved CB11 Customs Security Bond of TZS 100,000,000, which allows transit and warehoused consignments to move under our security rather than requiring the client to lodge their own for each shipment.
The practical work is border coordination. A corridor movement typically involves a Tanzanian clearing agent, a transporter, a border broker and a receiving agent in the destination country. Where those four are separately appointed, each hands the problem to the next. We coordinate the movement as a single file so the handovers are managed, evidenced and closed out.
The instrument
A general bond to secure customs duties, under which we are authorised to take delivery of and move goods under customs control without payment of duty at that point.
It obliges us to produce the goods at the destination directed by the proper officer and to account for them fully. That obligation is why our seal and handover discipline is not optional.

On network claims. Bridgelight is actively developing its agent and partner network at Tanzanian border posts and in the neighbouring markets, to reduce fragmented handovers between multiple providers. Any corridor we present to a client as active is supported by confirmed operational arrangements — we would rather decline a lane than promise coverage we cannot stand behind.
Tell us the destination and the border you intend to exit through. We will confirm the transit requirements, bond position and a realistic corridor timeline.
